About the event
Americans are twice as likely to trust Europe as Europeans are to trust America!
In just two years, the share of Europeans who see the US as the EU’s most valuable ally has fallen from 51% to 29%. Yet majorities on both sides still want closer ties.
With the US midterm elections only weeks away, what does this mean for the future of the partnership?🗳️👥
PES Maastricht, together with the SBE Emerging Markets course, is proud to welcome Brandon Bohrn, Senior Expert for Transatlantic Relations at the Bertelsmann Stiftung.
Professor Brandon has worked on both sides of the Atlantic: he has co-authored the Transatlantic Trends report in Washington D.C., advised on foreign policy for a US senator, and served at the US Embassy in Berlin and the US Consulate in Düsseldorf.
A Fulbright and DAAD scholar, he studied at UNC Chapel Hill and Humboldt Universität zu Berlin and is a graduate of The Citadel.
Drawing on fresh survey data from both sides of the Atlantic, Brandon will unpack what Europeans and Americans really think about defense, European independence, tariffs and China 🇨🇳.
